Woke to fog, but brightened as morning went by to high overcast, and sun in the afternoon. Coolish.
We had an interesting breakfast companion, an Israeli from Haifa. He and his wife were returning home from a visit to the U.S. and found the cost of the cruise was less than first class tickets by air - and his wife refused to fly anything but first class..... he had a good sense of humor, though it took a minute to get through his thick accent - once we did, his jokes were quite funny. Apparently he is wakened each morning at his home in Haifa by the roar of lions in the zoo nearby. I guess it startles visitors but they are used to it.
The day was spent in the usual manner, but after my nap on the deck, I was walking down the stairs and stubbed my toe going down the stairs - gave quite a twist to the already sore ankle! Still able to walk but it feels wobbly.
Lovely dinner, as usual - crab leg appetizer, greens with apple and pear, pasta dish with crab and pancetta, chocolate/toffee pie - mmmmmmmm. We watched some of the karaoke performances before returning to the string quartet. We are probably their most devoted fans - the group consists of two violins, a viola and a cello, fairly young people from the Ukraine. We think only two of them speak English, or maybe the others are very shy, but they all play beautifully.
Tomorrow : first port visit. There will be an early morning gathering at the front of the ship where we can catch the first sight of land in a week!
